Disadvantages of Metallic Lurex Fabric
The price of lurex materials is high, and the processing cost is not low, so the corresponding price of its fabrics will also be high.
Because the metallic yarns are made by vacuum plating aluminum or vacuum silver plating on the polyester film by physical methods, and then coloring and processing. Therefore, the chemical properties of metallic lurex yarns are unstable and cannot be used like ordinary textile fibers. The aluminum film in the metallic yarn is not resistant to alkali; the silver film is not resistant to acid, and the silver film will turn black when it contacts with sulfide.
The lurex fabric has poor wear resistance and is prone to fading. Stretching or heavy friction will cause the metal coating to peel off.
